Aapi is the name of the “plant emoji with eyes” character. Inspired by the psychoactive plant Caapi and the “sprout/seedling” emoji on Apple’s iOS 5 update in 2011. Depicted as a tiny, light hearted green plant with a short stem and two leaves, Aapi represents new beginnings and is sometimes seen in tears because of the range of emotions (shock, happy, sad) that comes with change and growth aka “groeing”.
